The SOUTHWIRE 22972401 is a THHN/THWN dual-rated building wire designed for branch circuit and feeder wiring in residential, commercial, and industrial installations. This 12 AWG stranded copper conductor carries a 20-amp rating at 600 volts and runs 500 feet per spool. The 19-strand configuration provides added flexibility compared to solid wire, making it easier to pull through conduit on longer runs. Thermoplastic insulation and a nylon jacket deliver durability in demanding environments. Gray jacket color identifies the conductor for use in multi-wire circuits per standard color-coding practice.
This wire is rated for use in conduit, raceways, and approved enclosures in both dry and wet locations. The THWN rating extends suitability to wet or damp areas including outdoor conduit runs, mechanical rooms, and locations subject to moisture exposure. The THHN rating covers dry and damp locations where heat resistance up to 194 degrees F is required. It is a standard choice for licensed electricians running circuits to outlets, lighting panels, motors, and general-purpose loads in new construction and renovation work.
Designed for use in conduit, raceways, and other approved wiring enclosures where THHN or THWN-rated wire is specified for 12 AWG branch circuit or feeder applications at up to 600 volts.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit at the panel before pulling or terminating wire. Wire must be installed in conduit or approved raceways — direct burial is not a rated application for this product type. Verify conductor ampacity derating requirements when multiple current-carrying conductors are bundled in a single conduit.
