The SOUTHWIRE 22971601 is a THHN/THWN-rated building wire designed for general-purpose electrical wiring in commercial and residential construction. This 12 AWG stranded copper conductor carries a 20-amp rating at 600 volts and spans 500 feet per spool. The 19-strand configuration provides flexibility during pull-through compared to solid wire, making it easier to route through conduit runs. The conductor is insulated with thermoplastic and jacketed with nylon, delivering resistance to abrasion, heat, moisture, oil, and gasoline exposure. Licensed electricians use this wire in conduit installations governed by the NEC for branch circuit wiring.
This wire is suited for branch circuit and feeder wiring in conduit systems across residential, commercial, and light industrial applications. The brown jacket color supports standard color-coding conventions used in multi-conductor conduit runs. It performs reliably in dry, damp, and wet locations, which is the combined benefit of the THHN and THWN dual ratings. The 500-foot spool length is practical for larger rough-in jobs where continuous pulls are required without mid-run splices.
Designed for use in conduit systems where THHN or THWN-rated conductors are specified. Suitable for NEC-compliant branch circuit and feeder wiring in residential, commercial, and light industrial installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits and lock out the panel before pulling or terminating wire. Use appropriate wire-pulling lubricant rated for thermoplastic insulation when installing through conduit to avoid jacket damage. Do not exceed the rated ampacity or voltage for this conductor.
