The SOUTHWIRE 17 is a 2.5-inch rigid metal conduit 45-degree elbow designed for use in electrical conduit installations requiring a half-turn direction change at a shallow angle. Fabricated from galvanized steel, this elbow delivers low conductivity and high corrosion resistance. Interior and exterior surfaces are defect-free to ensure a secure, reliable connection to rigid conduit. Licensed electricians and conduit installers use this fitting in commercial and industrial raceway systems where durable, code-compliant conduit routing is required. The fitting carries a UL listing and meets Federal specification WW-C-563, and is hot-dip galvanized (HDG) for added corrosion protection.
This 45-degree rigid elbow is suited for residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installations where rigid metal conduit must change direction without a full 90-degree bend. It is compatible with standard 2.5-inch rigid metal conduit systems and is appropriate for exposed or concealed conduit runs in both indoor and outdoor environments where corrosion resistance is a priority.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 2.5-inch rigid metal conduit systems. Also referenced as Madison ELR-25045 and Topaz 17.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). De-energize all circuits in the affected conduit run before beginning work. Use appropriate conduit threading tools and conduit wrenches to ensure proper makeup at each joint. Avoid over-torquing threaded connections, which can damage the fitting or conduit threads.
