The SOUTHWIRE 1493tz is a Schedule 40 PVC ENT (Electrical Nonmetallic Tubing) coupling designed to join sections of ENT flexible conduit without solvent cement. Fabricated from impact-resistant, rust-proof PVC, this coupling features two bell ends that connect tubing through a mechanical snap-in action, creating a secure, reliable joint. It carries a pull-out resistance rating of 175 pounds, making it suitable for installations where conduit integrity under load is a requirement. This fitting is cULus approved and is intended for use by licensed electricians working on residential and light commercial wiring systems.
This coupling is used in conduit runs where ENT flexible conduit is the specified raceway. Common applications include interior walls, floor assemblies, and above-ceiling runs in residential construction, as well as light commercial builds where ENT is code-permitted. The snap-in connection method speeds up installation and eliminates the wait time and chemical handling associated with solvent-cemented fittings. It is recommended for use with Topaz ENT Flexible Conduit and is available across a size range of 1/2 inch to 2 inches.
Recommended for use with Topaz ENT Flexible Conduit. Available in sizes ranging from 1/2 inch to 2 inches. Designed as an OEM-style snap-in replacement fitting for Schedule 40 PVC ENT conduit systems.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with NEC Article 362, which governs ENT systems. De-energize all circuits in the work area before handling conduit or fittings. The snap-in connection requires no adhesive, but tubing ends should be cut cleanly and deburred to ensure a full, secure seat in the bell ends. Do not use solvent cement with this fitting.
