The SOUTHWIRE 13055901 is a 12 AWG, 2-conductor UFW/G underground feeder wire sold in a 1000-foot roll. It is engineered for direct earth burial in branch circuit applications and for use indoors in wet or corrosive locations. The UFW/G construction delivers strong resistance to acids, alkalis, corrosive fumes, chemicals, lubricants, and groundwater. The insulation is noncorroding and sunlight-resistant, and the cable will not support combustion. This wire is UL Listed and is a standard choice for electricians running branch circuits to outbuildings, landscape lighting feeds, and similar below-grade or wet-location wiring projects.
This cable is suited for residential and light commercial branch circuit wiring where direct burial is required without conduit. Common applications include runs to detached garages, sheds, outdoor subpanels, irrigation system power feeds, and other below-grade or corrosive-environment wiring. Its sunlight resistance also makes it appropriate for exposed above-grade runs in wet or outdoor locations where local code permits UFW/G cable.
Designed as a direct-burial underground feeder cable for use in 12 AWG 2-conductor branch circuit applications where UFW/G rated wire is required by code.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the panel and verify the circuit is dead before making any connections. Minimum burial depth requirements for UFW/G cable vary by application and local jurisdiction — consult the NEC and local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) before trenching. Do not use this cable as a substitute for conduit-enclosed wiring in applications where UFW/G is not code-approved.
