The SOUTHWIRE 11592301 is a 12 AWG solid copper THHN/THWN building wire rated for 20 amps and 600 volts. It ships in a 500-foot spool and features thermoplastic insulation with a nylon outer jacket in yellow. This wire is designed for general-purpose branch circuit wiring in residential and light commercial construction. Licensed electricians install this type of wire in conduit runs supplying outlets, lighting circuits, and appliance circuits. The yellow jacket provides quick visual identification of the 12 AWG gauge on the job site.
This wire is suited for dry and wet locations, making it appropriate for conduit installations in interior walls, attics, basements, and outdoor conduit runs where moisture exposure is a factor. The THWN rating qualifies it for wet environments, while the THHN rating covers dry and damp locations. It is commonly pulled through EMT, rigid metal conduit, PVC conduit, and flex in both new construction and retrofit applications. The solid core construction is well suited for conduit runs where stranded wire is not required.
Designed as a standard THHN/THWN replacement or new-install building wire suitable for use in conduit systems per NEC branch circuit requirements for 20-amp circuits.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before pulling or terminating wire. This solid conductor is intended for conduit use — avoid installing solid 12 AWG in applications requiring flexible stranded wire. Use listed connectors and terminals rated for solid copper conductors.
