The SOUTHWARK METAL TD_18X10X48 is a rectangular sheet metal trunk duct section manufactured from hot dip galvanized steel for corrosion resistance and long service life. Measuring 18 inches by 10 inches in cross-section and 48 inches in length, this duct section is used in forced-air HVAC distribution systems to carry conditioned air from the air handler or furnace plenum to branch takeoff points. The button snap-lock seam with S-cleat and drive connection allows for fast, secure field assembly without special tooling. Cross-breaking adds rigidity to the flat panels, reducing drumming and flex under pressure. HVAC sheet metal mechanics and ductwork installers are the primary trade for this product.
This trunk duct section is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air systems where rectangular galvanized ductwork is specified. It fits into main trunk runs or extended plenum layouts and connects to adjacent duct sections using standard S-cleat and drive slip connections. The 18 by 10 inch profile accommodates a range of airflow capacities in low-pressure supply or return trunk applications. Fabricated to ACCA and SMACNA standards, this section is appropriate for new construction and retrofit duct installations where code-compliant galvanized steel ductwork is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard new-installation trunk duct section for rectangular galvanized steel forced-air duct systems using S-cleat and drive slip connections.
Installation should be performed by a qualified HVAC sheet metal mechanic in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Power down and lock out the air handler or furnace before connecting duct sections to an active system. Secure all S-cleat and drive connections fully and seal longitudinal seams and joints with listed duct sealant or UL 181-listed tape as required by code. Support trunk duct runs at intervals specified by SMACNA hangar and support guidelines for the duct size and weight.
