The SOUTHWARK METAL TD_14X8X48 is a hot dip galvanized steel sheet metal trunk duct section measuring 14 inches by 8 inches by 48 inches. It is designed for supply air distribution in forced-air HVAC systems and forms the main trunk line that carries conditioned air from the air handler or furnace to branch takeoffs. The section features button snap-lock construction with S-cleat and drive connection ends for secure field assembly, along with cross breaking for added rigidity. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal installers handle this component during new construction and system retrofit work.
This trunk duct section is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air heating and cooling systems where a rectangular main duct run is required. The 14 x 8 inch cross-section accommodates moderate airflow capacity trunk applications. The 48-inch section length reduces the number of joints in a run, speeding installation. It is commonly installed in attics, basements, mechanical rooms, and framed chases where rectangular ductwork is the preferred configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation trunk duct section compatible with standard rectangular S-cleat and drive connection duct systems built to SMACNA and ACCA guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal installer familiar with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical code requirements. Secure all joints with the appropriate S-cleat and drive hardware and seal longitudinal seams and end connections with listed duct sealant or mastic per ACCA and local energy code requirements. Support the trunk duct at intervals specified by SMACNA guidelines using appropriate hangers for the installation environment. Seal the system and test for air leakage before closing any concealed chases or insulating the ductwork.
