The SOUTHWARK METAL SP58-24GA_16X14 is a tapered spiral pipe reducer fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel at 24 gauge material thickness. It transitions a 16-inch diameter duct to a 14-inch diameter duct, making it a standard fitting for commercial and residential HVAC duct systems where airflow must be stepped down between trunk lines and branch runs. The tapered geometry maintains smooth airflow transition, reducing turbulence and static pressure loss through the fitting. Licensed sheet metal workers and HVAC installation contractors handle field installation of this fitting type.
This reducer is suited for spiral round duct systems in forced-air heating and cooling applications. It fits into low-pressure and medium-pressure supply and return trunk configurations where a concentric diameter reduction is required. The 24-gauge galvanized steel construction meets the material and fabrication standards referenced by SMACNA and ACCA for residential and light commercial ductwork assemblies. It is appropriate for use in new construction and retrofit duct system installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction fitting for spiral round duct systems conforming to SMACNA and ACCA standards. Connects to 16-inch diameter spiral duct on the larger end and 14-inch diameter spiral duct on the smaller end.
Installation should be performed by a licensed sheet metal contractor or HVAC technician in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Shut down the air handling unit and verify zero airflow before cutting into an existing duct system. Secure the reducer to adjoining duct sections using sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-listed mastic or foil tape per local code requirements. Support the fitting independently if span or weight requires it per SMACNA hanger and support guidelines.
