The SOUTHWARK METAL PH76128 is a straight, rectangular-to-round sheet metal duct boot designed to transition airflow from a rectangular duct opening to a round collar at a floor, wall, or ceiling register. The body is fabricated from 30-gauge ASTM A653 CS Type B G40 hot-dip galvanized steel, with a heavier 28-gauge galvanized steel collar for added rigidity at the connection point. The flat-back design allows the boot to sit flush against framing or subfloor surfaces. This fitting is installed by sheet metal and HVAC technicians during new construction and renovation ductwork projects.
This duct boot is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems where a rectangular trunk or branch feeds a round-collar register drop. The rectangular inlet measures 6 inches by 12 inches and the round collar measures 8 inches in diameter, making it a common size for floor and sidewall supply register applications. It conforms to ACCA, SMACNA, and NATE applicable standards, ensuring it meets recognized industry fabrication and installation guidelines.
Designed as a standard OEM-style sheet metal fitting for residential and light commercial forced-air supply duct systems requiring a rectangular-to-round transition at a floor, wall, or ceiling register location.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC or sheet metal technicians in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Shut down the air handler and de-energize the system before connecting or modifying ductwork. Secure the collar connection to the round branch duct using approved sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape to prevent air leakage. Confirm the flat-back orientation is correct for the register location before securing the boot to framing.
