The SOUTHWARK METAL ATT_16IN is a 16-inch diameter Air-Tite sheet metal duct takeoff fabricated from hot-dip galvanized steel. Duct takeoffs connect a main trunk line to a branch run, directing conditioned air from the plenum or main duct into individual supply branches. The hot-dip galvanized construction provides corrosion resistance suited to both conditioned and unconditioned spaces. This fitting meets ACCA and SMACNA standards, making it appropriate for systems designed and installed to those specifications. HVAC sheet metal mechanics and duct installers are the primary trades for this fitting.
This takeoff is used in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems where a 16-inch branch connection is required off a main trunk or plenum. It is suited for new construction ductwork and retrofit installations where an Air-Tite seal is required to minimize air leakage at the branch connection point. The Air-Tite design supports low-leakage duct system performance in line with current energy code requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 16-inch branch connections in residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems fabricated to ACCA and SMACNA standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal mechanic. Shut down the air handling unit and verify zero airflow before cutting into an existing duct trunk. Secure the takeoff using sheet metal screws at all connection flanges and seal all joints with listed duct sealant or mastic in accordance with the applicable energy code and SMACNA installation guidelines. Do not rely on duct tape alone as the primary air seal.
