The SOUTHWARK METAL ATT_12IN is a 12-inch diameter Air-Tite sheet metal duct takeoff fabricated from hot-dip galvanized steel. Duct takeoffs are transition fittings used to branch airflow from a main trunk duct to a lateral run, and this fitting is engineered to deliver a tight, low-leakage connection at that junction. The hot-dip galvanized construction resists corrosion in unconditioned spaces such as attics, crawlspaces, and mechanical rooms. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers of this type of fitting in both new construction and replacement ductwork projects.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC duct systems where a 12-inch round branch takeoff is required off a rectangular or flat-oval trunk. It is used in supply-air distribution systems designed and installed in accordance with ACCA Manual D duct design principles and SMACNA fabrication standards. The Air-Tite designation indicates the fitting is built to minimize air leakage at the connection point, supporting system efficiency and pressure balance across the duct distribution network.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction fitting for 12-inch round branch connections on rectangular or flat-oval trunk ducts in forced-air HVAC systems built to ACCA and SMACNA standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal contractor in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Shut down the air handler and isolate the system before cutting into or modifying any trunk duct section. Secure the takeoff with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-listed mastic or foil tape to maintain system pressure integrity. Do not use cloth duct tape as a primary sealant.
