The SOUTHWARK METAL ATDRP_8IN is an 8-inch diameter round saddle-style sheet metal duct takeoff with an integrated damper, designed for ducted HVAC air distribution systems. Constructed from hot dip galvanized steel, it provides corrosion resistance suitable for supply-air trunk-and-branch installations. The Air-Tite design minimizes air leakage at the branch connection point, supporting system efficiency and pressure balance. This fitting is installed by licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors during new construction or retrofit ductwork projects.
This takeoff is used in residential and light commercial forced-air systems where a round branch duct must connect to a rectangular or flat-oval main trunk. The saddle design seats directly onto the trunk surface and is field-cut to match the trunk opening. The built-in damper allows the installer to balance airflow at each branch, reducing the need for downstream balancing hardware. Typical applications include supply-side trunk runs in attic, basement, and crawl-space installations.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for trunk-and-branch forced-air duct systems requiring an 8-inch round saddle takeoff connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal contractor in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Shut down and lock out the air handler before cutting the trunk opening or securing the saddle fitting. Secure the saddle to the trunk with sheet metal screws and seal all seams with listed duct sealant or UL 181-rated tape per applicable code. Set the integrated damper position during system commissioning and airflow balancing.
