The SOUTHWARK METAL ATDRP_16IN is a 16-inch round saddle duct takeoff fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel. It is designed to create a branch connection off a main rectangular duct trunk, allowing airflow to be directed into a round branch duct. This fitting meets Air-Tite construction standards, helping to minimize air leakage at the connection point. HVAC sheet metal installers and ductwork contractors use this fitting in forced-air distribution systems where a tight, durable branch tap is required. The 16-inch diameter suits larger residential and light commercial trunk-and-branch layouts.
This takeoff is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC duct systems following SMACNA and ACCA guidelines. It is installed where a round branch duct needs to tap into a rectangular main trunk. The saddle-style design seats against the trunk duct wall, and the round collar interfaces directly with standard 16-inch round duct or fittings. It is appropriate for supply air distribution systems built to SMACNA sheet metal standards.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with 16-inch round branch duct connections in forced-air HVAC duct systems built to SMACNA and ACCA standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal contractor. Shut down the air handling system and verify the system is de-energized before cutting into an existing trunk duct. Secure the saddle takeoff to the trunk using sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape per SMACNA installation guidelines. Verify the branch duct is properly supported to prevent stress on the takeoff connection.
