The SOUTHWARK METAL ATD_8IN is an 8-inch diameter Air-Tite sheet metal duct takeoff with an integrated damper, designed for forced-air HVAC distribution systems. Fabricated from hot-dip galvanized steel, this takeoff fitting connects branch ducts to main trunk lines and includes a built-in damper for airflow balancing at the branch point. HVAC installers and sheet metal contractors use this fitting where branch control is required without adding a separate inline damper. The galvanized construction resists corrosion in both residential and light commercial applications.
This takeoff is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air systems where an 8-inch branch duct leaves a rectangular or round main trunk. The integrated damper allows the technician to throttle airflow at the takeoff during system balancing, reducing the need for additional balancing components downstream. Typical installation scenarios include new construction duct systems and retrofit branch additions where ACCA and SMACNA fabrication and installation standards apply.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with standard 8-inch round branch duct in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC distribution systems built to ACCA and SMACNA standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal contractor in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Shut down the air handling unit and verify the system is de-energized before cutting into existing ductwork. Secure the takeoff to the trunk with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL-listed foil tape or mastic sealant. Adjust the integrated damper after system startup during the air balancing procedure.
