The SOUTHWARK METAL ATD_4IN is a 4-inch diameter Air-Tite sheet metal duct takeoff with an integrated damper, fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel. It is designed for branch connections in residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems, allowing an HVAC technician to tap a round branch run off a main trunk or plenum while retaining airflow control through the built-in damper. The hot dip galvanized construction provides corrosion resistance suited to the demanding conditions inside ductwork. The Air-Tite designation indicates a tighter-sealing fit that reduces uncontrolled air leakage at the takeoff connection point.
This takeoff is used in new construction and retrofit forced-air HVAC duct installations where a controlled branch run is needed. The 4-inch diameter suits supply or return branch runs in residential systems as well as smaller commercial applications. The included damper allows the installer to balance airflow at the takeoff point, making it useful in zoned systems or multi-room layouts where branch-by-branch air balancing is required. Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal contractors following ACCA and SMACNA standards for duct construction and air distribution.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for residential and light commercial forced-air sheet metal duct systems requiring a 4-inch round branch takeoff with damper.
Installation is performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal contractor. Power down the air handling unit and confirm the system is de-energized before cutting into an existing trunk or plenum. Secure the takeoff fitting per SMACNA duct construction standards and seal all joints with listed duct sealant or mastic to maintain system integrity. Do not overtighten sheet metal screws to the point of distorting the collar or damper blade.
