The SOUTHWARK METAL ATD_18IN is an 18-inch diameter Air-Tite sheet metal duct takeoff with an integrated damper, designed for forced-air HVAC distribution systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this takeoff provides a branch connection point between a main trunk duct and a branch run, allowing airflow to be directed and controlled at the point of takeoff. The built-in damper lets technicians balance airflow during system commissioning without adding a separate balancing device. HVAC sheet metal mechanics and duct installers are the primary trades working with this fitting.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC duct systems where branch takeoffs are required from rectangular or round main trunks. The Air-Tite designation indicates the fitting is constructed to reduce air leakage at the connection point, supporting tighter duct system performance in line with ACCA and SMACNA standards. It is appropriate for new construction installs as well as duct modification or replacement projects where an 18-inch branch connection is required.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal duct fitting for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC distribution systems requiring an 18-inch diameter branch takeoff connection.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal mechanics following SMACNA duct construction standards. The air handling system should be fully powered down and the blower confirmed off before cutting into an existing trunk or securing the takeoff to sheet metal. Secure the fitting with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with mastic sealant or listed foil tape in accordance with local mechanical codes. The integrated damper should be adjusted and locked at the desired position during system air balancing after installation is complete.
