The SOUTHWARK METAL AT62_4IN is a 4-inch diameter sheet metal duct top takeoff fitting designed for transitioning from round duct to rectangular duct in forced-air HVAC distribution systems. Constructed from hot dip galvanized steel, this fitting uses a stick-on, Air-Tite design that creates a tight seal against flat duct surfaces without fasteners, reducing air leakage at the branch connection point. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal installers use this fitting during new construction and retrofit ductwork runs where branch takeoffs are required off the top of a main rectangular trunk line.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems where a round branch must connect to a rectangular main trunk. The stick-on adhesive gasket design simplifies installation by eliminating the need to cut and collar a separate hole fitting. It is commonly used in supply-air duct layouts conforming to ACCA Manual D distribution guidelines and SMACNA duct construction standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for residential and light commercial rectangular sheet metal trunk duct systems requiring a 4-inch round branch takeoff.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or journeyman sheet metal workers. Before installing, shut down the air handling unit and relieve any system static pressure. The stick-on gasket surface on the trunk duct should be clean, dry, and free of oil or debris before seating the fitting. Duct fabrication and installation should conform to local mechanical codes and SMACNA duct construction standards.
