The SOUTHWARK METAL 84ST_1-1/2X9 is a sheet metal ductboard collar tap designed for connecting round branch ducts to ductboard trunk systems. Constructed from hot dip galvanized steel, this collar tap measures 9 inches in diameter and features a 1-1/2 inch tab for secure attachment to ductboard panels. The galvanized finish resists corrosion in both conditioned and unconditioned spaces. HVAC installers and sheet metal contractors use this fitting to create clean, code-compliant branch takeoffs without improvised cuts or loose connections. It is built to ACCA and SMACNA standards, making it suitable for residential and light commercial forced-air distribution systems.
This collar tap is used where a round branch duct connects to a fiberglass ductboard trunk or plenum. The 1-1/2 inch tab seats flush against the ductboard surface and is secured with approved ductboard adhesive or mechanical fasteners per SMACNA ductboard installation guidelines. Typical applications include residential new construction and retrofit HVAC jobs where ductboard trunk systems are specified. It fits standard 9 inch round branch connections and is commonly installed as part of a low-pressure supply air distribution system.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with fiberglass ductboard trunk and plenum systems in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal contractor. Shut down the air handling unit and de-energize all associated electrical circuits before beginning ductwork modifications. Secure the tab to the ductboard surface using methods that comply with SMACNA Fibrous Glass Duct Construction Standards and local mechanical codes. Seal all connections with approved duct sealant or UL 181B-listed tape rated for ductboard applications.
