The SOUTHWARK METAL 84ST_1-1/2X5 is a sheet metal ductboard collar tap used to create branch takeoffs from ductboard trunk lines in residential and light commercial HVAC distribution systems. It is fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, providing corrosion resistance suited to the temperature and humidity conditions typical in air distribution applications. The collar features a 1-1/2 inch tab for securing the fitting to the ductboard panel. This fitting is installed by HVAC technicians and sheet metal workers during new construction or system retrofit work where ductboard is used as the primary duct material.
This collar tap is designed for use with ductboard systems where round branch collars must be cut into the flat ductboard surface. The 5 inch diameter fits standard 5 inch round branch duct. It is appropriate for residential forced-air systems and light commercial applications where ductboard construction is the specified installation method. Fabrication and installation follow ACCA and SMACNA standards for sheet metal ductwork.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for ductboard HVAC systems requiring a 5 inch round collar tap with a 1-1/2 inch tab.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal workers. The system should be de-energized and the air handler shut down before cutting into the ductboard and installing the collar. Follow SMACNA and ACCA guidelines for proper collar seating, tab securing, and sealing with approved duct tape or mastic to maintain system airtightness. Do not install on pressurized duct systems without first verifying the fitting size and tab engagement meet the local mechanical code requirements.
