The SOUTHWARK METAL 84ST_1-1/2X4 is a sheet metal ductboard collar tap designed for connecting round branch ducts to ductboard trunk lines in forced-air HVAC systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, it provides corrosion resistance suited to the demands of low-pressure supply and return duct assemblies. The collar measures 4 inches in diameter and features a 1-1/2 inch tab for secure attachment to ductboard panels. This fitting is installed by licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal workers during new construction and retrofit duct system fabrication.
This ductboard collar tap is used in residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems where ductboard panels serve as the trunk or plenum. The 4-inch opening accommodates standard round branch duct connections, and the integrated 1-1/2 inch tab provides a fastening surface against the ductboard face. It is a common component in ACCA- and SMACNA-compliant duct system installations where ductboard is the primary distribution material.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with ductboard trunk and plenum systems in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC installations where a 4-inch branch collar tap is required.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal workers in accordance with SMACNA and ACCA ductboard installation guidelines. Shut down the air handling system before cutting into the ductboard and installing the collar. Secure the tab firmly against the ductboard face using foil tape and mechanical fasteners per the applicable duct construction standard. Do not use this fitting in pressurized applications that exceed the rated limits of the ductboard system.
