The SOUTHWARK METAL 78_7X5X5 is a hot-dip galvanized sheet metal pipe wye branch fitting used in low-pressure ducted air distribution systems. It splits or combines airflow between a 7-inch main duct and two 5-inch branch ducts. The hot-dip galvanizing process provides a durable zinc coating that resists corrosion in both indoor and lightly exposed mechanical spaces. This fitting is fabricated to meet ACCA and SMACNA standards, making it suitable for installations where documented quality and dimensional accuracy are required. HVAC sheet metal contractors and mechanical installers are the primary trades working with this fitting.
This wye branch is used in residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems where a main trunk line needs to divide into two branch runs of equal diameter. It is well suited for trunk-and-branch layouts and can be installed in supply or return air applications depending on system design. The 7-inch inlet and dual 5-inch outlets accommodate common residential and small commercial duct sizing scenarios.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use in residential and light commercial low-pressure forced-air duct systems built to ACCA and SMACNA specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed sheet metal contractor or qualified HVAC mechanic. The air handling system should be powered down and the air handler isolated before fitting installation. Secure the fitting using standard drive-and-cleat or slip-and-drive connections per SMACNA duct construction standards, and seal all joints with UL 181-listed mastic or foil tape as required by local mechanical code.
