The SOUTHWARK METAL 62FG_6IN is a non-adjustable, square-to-round fiberglass ductboard top takeoff fitting designed for use in low-pressure residential and light commercial HVAC duct distribution systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this fitting transitions from a flat ductboard plenum surface to a 6-inch round collar. The raised back and 1-inch tab are formed into the fitting to ensure a secure, airtight connection to fiberglass ductboard. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal installers use this fitting during new construction and retrofit duct system installations where ductboard is the primary trunk material.
This fitting is intended for top-takeoff applications on fiberglass ductboard plenum and trunk systems. The square-to-round geometry suits branch runout connections where a round flex duct or rigid round branch transitions off the top of a ductboard assembly. The 1-inch tab seats flush against the ductboard surface and accepts standard ductboard adhesive and staple fastening methods. It is suitable for residential forced-air systems and light commercial applications following ACCA and SMACNA standards for low-pressure duct construction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard new-construction fitting for fiberglass ductboard plenum and trunk duct systems requiring a top-mounted, square-to-round branch takeoff at 6-inch diameter.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal workers. Shut down the air handling unit and de-energize the system before cutting into or modifying any duct assembly. Seat the 1-inch tab fully against the ductboard surface and secure with approved ductboard adhesive and staples per SMACNA Fibrous Glass Duct Construction Standards before connecting the branch collar. All duct construction and sealing practices should comply with applicable local mechanical codes and ACCA Manual D duct design requirements.
