The SOUTHWARK METAL 62_7IN is a sheet metal duct takeoff fitting designed to transition a square or rectangular trunk duct connection to a round branch duct. Fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel, this top-mount fitting provides a secure, airtight branch tap point in low-pressure residential and light commercial supply air distribution systems. The 7-inch inlet and 7-inch outlet diameters make it a direct-fit component for standard trunk-and-branch duct layouts. HVAC installers and sheet metal contractors use this fitting when stubbing off a main duct run to feed a branch run or flex duct drop.
This fitting is suited for residential forced-air heating and cooling systems as well as light commercial HVAC applications where a square or rectangular plenum or trunk must transition to a round duct. The top-mount configuration allows the branch to exit through the top face of the trunk, a common geometry in basement, crawlspace, and attic installations. It is compatible with standard round duct and flex duct connections at the 7-inch diameter outlet.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems using 7-inch round branch ducts off a square or rectangular trunk.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal contractor in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Shut down the air handler and isolate the duct system before cutting into the trunk or plenum. Secure the fitting with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL-listed duct mastic or foil tape rated for HVAC applications. Do not use standard cloth duct tape as a primary sealant.
