The SOUTHWARK METAL 59F_6X10X8 is a flanged 90-degree rectangular-to-round sheet metal boot designed for ceiling register applications in residential and light commercial HVAC duct systems. The boot transitions from a 6-inch by 10-inch rectangular duct opening to an 8-inch round collar, making it a standard fit for branch takeoffs feeding ceiling diffusers or grilles mounted to 1296-style T-bar rail. Fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel, it provides corrosion resistance suited to conditioned-air supply systems. The integrated flange seats flush against the ceiling surface, supporting a register or grille without the need for a separate mounting ring.
This boot is intended for forced-air HVAC installations where a rectangular trunk or branch duct transitions to a round collar feeding a ceiling register. It is commonly installed during new construction or renovation work in residential homes and light commercial spaces. The ceiling-mount configuration and flanged face make it compatible with standard ceiling grilles and diffusers. Installers working with 1296 T-bar rail systems will find the integrated flange directly supports that framing method.
Designed for use with 1296 rail systems. Fits standard ceiling grilles and diffusers with a 6-inch by 10-inch neck and an 8-inch round collar connection. Intended as a ceiling-type rectangular-to-round boot for forced-air supply duct installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal installer in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Shut down the air handling system and relieve any system pressure before cutting into existing ductwork or securing the boot. Seal all joints with UL-listed mastic or metal tape per ACCA and SMACNA guidelines to prevent conditioned-air leakage. Ensure the flanged face is fully supported by the ceiling structure or T-bar rail before fastening the register or grille.
