The Southwark Metal 58_7X4 is a 3-piece sheet metal pipe reducer designed to transition round duct from a 7-inch diameter down to a 4-inch diameter in forced-air HVAC systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this reducer provides durable corrosion resistance suited for supply and return duct runs in residential and light commercial applications. The no-crimp design on the smaller end accommodates standard slip-fit connections. HVAC installers and sheet metal mechanics use this fitting where trunk lines or branch takeoffs require a diameter reduction within a ductwork system.
This reducer is well suited for residential forced-air heating and cooling systems, as well as light commercial duct installations where branch runs step down from a larger main trunk. It fits into standard round duct assemblies and supports efficient airflow transitions between differing duct sizes. Applications include attic, basement, and crawlspace ductwork where reducing the line size to a smaller zone or diffuser drop is required. The fitting meets ACCA and SMACNA applicable standards, making it appropriate for code-compliant duct installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard round galvanized ductwork systems with a 7-inch larger-end diameter and a 4-inch smaller-end diameter.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal mechanic. Power down the air handling unit and close any relevant dampers before modifying the duct system. Secure all slip-fit connections with sheet metal screws and seal seams with UL 181-listed duct tape or mastic sealant per SMACNA guidelines. Do not overtighten fasteners on the galvanized surface in a way that distorts the fitting body.
