The SOUTHWARK METAL 58_6X3 is a 3-piece sheet metal pipe reducer used to transition between two different round duct diameters in HVAC ductwork systems. Constructed from hot-dip galvanized steel, it connects a 6-inch diameter duct to a 3-inch diameter duct without a crimped end. The no-crimp design suits installations where a separate crimp or slip fitting is preferred at the connection point. This reducer is built to ACCA and SMACNA standards, making it appropriate for both residential and light commercial forced-air distribution systems. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers.
This reducer is suited for supply or return duct trunk-to-branch transitions where airflow must be stepped down from a 6-inch main to a 3-inch branch run. The 3-piece construction allows the fitting to maintain consistent taper geometry across the transition. Applications include residential forced-air furnace and air handler systems as well as light commercial duct installations where ACCA and SMACNA fabrication standards are specified.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fabrication fitting for round sheet metal ductwork systems built to ACCA and SMACNA specifications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal contractor. Shut down the air handling unit and confirm zero airflow before cutting into existing ductwork or inserting the reducer. Secure the fitting with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL-listed foil tape or mastic sealant per SMACNA guidelines. Follow local mechanical codes for duct support spacing and joint sealing requirements.
