The SOUTHWARK METAL 58_18X14 is a 3-piece round sheet metal duct reducer designed to transition airflow from an 18-inch diameter duct to a 14-inch diameter duct in forced-air HVAC distribution systems. Fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel, this reducer delivers corrosion resistance and structural durability suited for both supply and return trunk-line applications. The 3-piece construction allows for field adjustability during trunk-line layout. Installed by licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors, this fitting meets ACCA and SMACNA applicable standards for residential and light commercial ductwork fabrication and installation.
This reducer is used in forced-air heating and cooling systems where a main trunk line or branch duct must step down from 18 inches to 14 inches in diameter. Typical install scenarios include reducing off a main supply trunk to a branch run, or transitioning between duct sections of differing diameters to maintain system static pressure balance. Suitable for residential and light commercial applications where round duct distribution is specified per ACCA Manual D or SMACNA duct construction standards.
Designed as an OEM-style round duct fitting for use in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC distribution systems using 18-inch and 14-inch round ductwork per ACCA and SMACNA construction standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal contractor in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling unit and close the disconnect before working in the duct system. Secure all joints with sheet metal screws and seal with UL 181-listed mastic or foil tape to prevent air leakage. Avoid over-compressing the fitting during assembly, as deformation can reduce airflow cross-section and increase static pressure drop.
