The Southwark Metal 58_14X8 is a 3-piece round sheet metal duct reducer used to transition between a 14-inch diameter duct and an 8-inch diameter duct in forced-air HVAC systems. Fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel, it provides corrosion resistance suitable for both supply and return air applications. The 3-piece construction allows for field adjustment during installation, making it a practical choice for trunk-and-branch layouts, air handler connections, and duct system modifications. HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers of this fitting.
This reducer is used in residential and light commercial ducted HVAC systems where a duct run must step down from a 14-inch main or trunk to an 8-inch branch or terminal run. It is well-suited for new construction duct fabrication and retrofit work where airflow must be directed from larger plenum or trunk ductwork into smaller branch runs. The fitting meets ACCA and SMACNA applicable standards, making it appropriate for code-compliant duct system design and installation.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with standard round galvanized ductwork systems requiring a 14-inch to 8-inch diameter reduction in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC applications.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal contractors in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards. Power down the air handling unit and close any associated dampers before working on the duct system. Secure the reducer to adjoining duct sections using sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape per local mechanical code requirements. Note that crimp fittings are not supplied with this reducer.
