The SOUTHWARK METAL 58_12X10 is a 3-piece sheet metal pipe reducer designed to transition round duct from a 12-inch diameter down to a 10-inch diameter. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this reducer delivers corrosion resistance suited to both supply and return air duct systems. The no-crimp design means the fitting ships without a pre-formed bead on the smaller end, allowing the installer to maintain full control over field connections and slip-joint fitment. HVAC sheet metal mechanics and ductwork installers handle this type of fitting in residential and light commercial forced-air systems.
This reducer is used wherever a round duct run steps down in diameter to balance airflow distribution across a duct system. Typical applications include trunk-to-branch transitions and inline diameter reductions in galvanized round duct systems. It is well-suited for new construction ductwork and retrofit work where an existing run must be reduced to feed a smaller downstream trunk or branch. The fitting meets ACCA and SMACNA applicable standards, making it appropriate for jobs where code-compliant duct construction is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction fitting for standard 12-inch to 10-inch galvanized round duct systems built to ACCA and SMACNA specifications.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal mechanics. Shut down the air handling system and de-energize the air handler before cutting into or modifying any duct section. Secure the reducer with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with listed duct sealant or UL 181-rated tape per SMACNA guidelines. Avoid over-driving screws into the galvanized material, which can compromise the protective coating at the connection point.
