The SOUTHWARK METAL 55_7IN is a 7-inch diameter crimped sheet metal duct tee end cap fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel. It is designed to close off the open end of a round sheet metal duct tee fitting, preventing air bypass and maintaining system pressure balance in forced-air HVAC distribution systems. The crimped end allows the cap to seat securely over or into a standard tee branch. Licensed HVAC sheet metal mechanics and duct installers use this component during new construction and renovation work where branch terminations require a permanent or semi-permanent closure.
This cap is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems where round galvanized sheet metal fittings are used. It is a standard accessory in trunk-and-branch and radial duct layouts whenever a tee branch is installed but not immediately connected to a register, grille, or additional duct run. The crimped profile is compatible with standard round snap-lock and spiral duct fittings of the same nominal diameter.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with 7-inch nominal round galvanized duct tee fittings in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems built to ACCA and SMACNA standards.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed sheet metal mechanic or HVAC installer as part of duct fabrication or system modification work. Shut down the air handling unit and relieve system pressure before removing or capping any duct fitting. The crimped end should be fully seated against the tee branch collar and secured with sheet metal screws and foil-backed mastic or UL-listed duct tape in accordance with SMACNA installation guidelines. Avoid over-compressing the crimp collar, which can distort the fitting and compromise the seal.
