The SOUTHWARK METAL 55_5IN is a crimped sheet metal duct tee end cap designed to terminate 5-inch round duct tee openings in forced-air HVAC distribution systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this cap provides a secure, corrosion-resistant closure at unused or capped-off tee branches. The crimped end allows it to slide over standard 5-inch round duct fittings and seat firmly without fasteners in most applications. HVAC installers and sheet metal workers use this type of fitting during new construction, renovation, and system balancing work where a tee branch must be sealed off cleanly and durably.
This tee end cap is suited for residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems built to SMACNA and ACCA standards. It is commonly installed at trunk-and-branch tee intersections where a branch run is capped temporarily or permanently. The galvanized steel construction holds up in attic, crawlspace, and mechanical room environments where moisture and temperature cycling are ongoing concerns. Sheet metal mechanics and HVAC technicians are the primary trade installing this fitting.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with 5-inch round duct tee fittings in residential and light commercial forced-air distribution systems built to SMACNA and ACCA standards.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal workers. Shut down the air handling unit and relieve system pressure before capping any live duct branch. The crimped end seats over the tee stub and should be secured with sheet metal screws and sealed with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape per SMACNA duct construction guidelines. Do not use this cap as a permanent pressure-bearing closure on high-velocity systems without verifying system static pressure ratings.
