The SOUTHWARK METAL 28RR_4X12X7 is a right-offset rectangular-to-round sheet metal duct end boot used to transition a rectangular duct opening to a round register collar. Fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized steel, this fitting connects a 4 inch by 12 inch rectangular duct face to a 7 inch round collar. It is a standard register boot designed for forced-air HVAC distribution systems in residential and light commercial construction. HVAC installers and sheet metal contractors use this fitting at the terminal end of a supply duct run where a floor, wall, or ceiling register is required.
This boot is suited for new construction and retrofit supply-air applications where a rectangular trunk or branch duct must terminate at a round-collar register. The right-offset profile positions the round collar off-center, accommodating framing constraints and floor joist layouts common in residential duct systems. It meets ACCA and SMACNA applicable standards for sheet metal duct fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for residential and light commercial forced-air supply duct systems requiring a 4 inch by 12 inch rectangular face to 7 inch round collar transition at a register termination point.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed HVAC technician or journeyman sheet metal worker. Shut down the air handler and confirm the system is de-energized before cutting into an existing duct run. Secure the boot to the duct using sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-listed duct mastic or metal-foil tape per SMACNA guidelines. Do not use standard cloth duct tape as a primary sealant.
