The SOUTHWARK METAL 28R_2-1/4X12X6 is a center-end sheet metal pipe boot designed to transition round ductwork to a rectangular floor or wall register opening. Constructed from hot dip galvanized steel, this boot provides corrosion resistance suited for residential HVAC supply and return air distribution systems. The register-type boot accommodates a 6-inch diameter round collar on one end and a 2-1/4 x 12 inch rectangular opening on the other, making it a standard component in forced-air system installations. HVAC sheet metal contractors and installers use this boot to terminate duct runs at floor, wall, or ceiling register locations.
This pipe boot is used in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems where round duct transitions to a rectangular register face. The center-end configuration positions the round collar at the center of the boot end, which is the standard layout for floor and wall register drops. It is installed at the termination point of a supply or return branch run, connecting the round branch duct to the register frame. Manufactured to ACCA and SMACNA standards, this boot fits into standard sheet metal duct systems built to industry specifications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation component for residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC duct systems requiring a round-to-rectangular register boot transition built to ACCA and SMACNA standards.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal contractors. Power down the air handling unit and close the system before connecting or modifying duct components. Secure the boot to round duct with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL-listed foil tape or mastic sealant in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards. The rectangular register collar should be fastened to the register frame per local mechanical code requirements.
