The SOUTHWARK METAL 27R_4X12X7 is a straight sheet metal pipe boot designed to transition from round duct to a floor or ceiling register opening in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this boot provides a durable, corrosion-resistant connection point at the register end of a duct run. The rectangular opening measures 4 inches by 12 inches, mating to a standard floor or ceiling register, while the round collar measures 7 inches in diameter for duct attachment. HVAC sheet metal installers and duct fabricators use this fitting as a terminal component in forced-air supply or return systems built to ACCA and SMACNA standards.
This pipe boot is suited for new construction and retrofit duct installations in residential forced-air heating and cooling systems as well as light commercial applications. It installs at the terminal end of a round duct run where the duct transitions to a rectangular floor boot or ceiling diffuser opening. The 4 inch by 12 inch register face aligns with standard 4 x 12 register grilles, and the 7 inch collar accepts standard round flexible or rigid duct. Applications include trunk-and-branch supply systems and individual room drops where a round-to-register transition is required.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for use with standard 4 inch by 12 inch floor or ceiling register grilles and 7 inch round duct in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC duct systems built to ACCA and SMACNA guidelines.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal duct installers. The duct system should be fully de-energized and the air handler shut down before connecting or modifying any duct components. Secure the round collar to the duct with sheet metal screws and foil-backed mastic or UL 181-rated tape per SMACNA installation standards. Ensure the rectangular register opening is flush with the finished floor or ceiling surface before fastening the register grille.
