The SOUTHWARK METAL 27R_4X12X6 is a straight sheet metal pipe boot designed for use in residential and light commercial HVAC duct distribution systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this register boot connects a 6 inch round duct collar to a 4 inch by 12 inch rectangular register opening. The straight configuration allows for a clean, direct transition between round trunk or branch duct and a floor or ceiling register. HVAC installers and sheet metal contractors rely on this type of boot to terminate duct runs at supply registers, maintaining airflow integrity and structural rigidity at the point of delivery.
This pipe boot is suited for new construction and retrofit duct installations in residential forced-air heating and cooling systems. The 4 inch by 12 inch face opening accepts standard register grilles of that size, while the 6 inch diameter collar mates to round branch duct. It is appropriate for floor, ceiling, or sidewall applications depending on the installation layout. The hot dip galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance in both conditioned and unconditioned spaces such as crawlspaces, basements, and attics.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting compatible with standard residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems using 6 inch round branch duct and 4 inch by 12 inch register grilles per ACCA and SMACNA guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal contractor following SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling system before securing the boot into the duct system. The collar should be sealed with UL-listed duct sealant or foil tape at the round duct connection to prevent air leakage. Secure the rectangular face opening to the subfloor or ceiling material using appropriate fasteners before installing the register grille.
