The SOUTHWARK METAL 24R_6X12X6 is a sheet metal pipe boot elbow designed to transition ductwork from a round pipe to a rectangular register opening at a 90-degree angle. Constructed from hot dip galvanized steel, it delivers corrosion resistance suited to both conditioned and unconditioned spaces. The boot measures 6 inches by 12 inches at the register face (Size A) and accepts a 6-inch diameter round duct at the collar (Size B). HVAC technicians and sheet metal installers use this fitting to terminate supply or return duct runs at floor, wall, or ceiling register locations in residential and light commercial forced-air systems.
This pipe boot elbow fits into standard forced-air duct systems where a round branch duct must terminate at a rectangular register grille. The 90-degree turn makes it the correct fitting for runs where the duct approaches the register perpendicularly, such as a vertical pipe coming up through a floor or a horizontal run entering a sidewall. The 6 by 12 inch face aligns with standard 6 by 12 register grille openings, and the 6-inch collar connects directly to round branch duct or flex duct of the same diameter.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems using 6-inch round branch duct terminating at a 6 by 12 inch register opening.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal workers following SMACNA duct construction standards. Power down the air handling unit and close the system before fitting or sealing duct components. Seal all joints with listed duct mastic or foil-backed tape per local mechanical code requirements. Secure the boot to the subfloor or framing as appropriate to prevent movement and maintain register alignment.
