The SOUTHWARK METAL 24R_2-1/4X10X6 is a sheet metal pipe boot elbow designed to transition a round duct into a flat register opening at a 90-degree angle. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, it provides corrosion resistance suited to residential HVAC duct systems. The fitting measures 2-1/4 inches by 10 inches at the register face (Size A) and connects to a 6-inch diameter round duct (Size B). It is installed by HVAC sheet metal mechanics or duct installers as a terminal fitting where a floor, wall, or ceiling register meets a branch duct run.
This pipe boot elbow is used in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems. It is appropriate for new construction duct installations and retrofit applications where a 6-inch round branch must terminate at a 2-1/4 by 10 inch register boot location. The 90-degree configuration suits installations where the duct approaches the register opening perpendicular to the finished surface, such as under-floor supply runs terminating at a floor register.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal duct fitting compatible with 6-inch round branch ducts terminating at 2-1/4 by 10 inch register openings in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal duct installers. Shut down the air handling unit and lock out the system before making duct connections. Seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape per SMACNA guidelines to prevent air leakage. Secure the boot to the subfloor or framing as required by local mechanical code before setting the register.
