The SOUTHWARK METAL 24_3-1/4X12X8 is a sheet metal duct wall stack elbow boot designed to transition airflow from a vertical wall cavity into a floor or ceiling register opening. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this 90-degree elbow boot connects a 3-1/4 inch x 12 inch rectangular duct opening to an 8 inch round collar. It is a standard component in residential forced-air HVAC distribution systems and is installed by licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors during new construction and retrofit work.
This wall stack boot is used in residential HVAC applications where supply air is delivered through a wall stud cavity and terminates at a register. The rectangular face opening measures 3-1/4 inches x 12 inches, fitting standard single-width wall stack duct dimensions. The 8 inch round collar connects directly to round or flexible duct on the supply side. It is suited for low-profile wall installations where a 90-degree transition is required between the vertical duct run and the horizontal register face.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-construction fitting for residential forced-air supply duct systems using standard 3-1/4 inch x 12 inch wall stack duct configurations with an 8 inch round duct connection.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal contractors. Shut down and lock out the air handling unit before connecting or modifying any duct components. Secure all joints with sheet metal screws and seal with mastic or UL 181-listed tape per SMACNA guidelines and local mechanical code requirements. Do not compress or restrict the round collar connection, as this reduces system airflow and static pressure performance.
