The SOUTHWARK METAL 20_30X12 is a straight rectangular trunk duct starting collar designed for sheet metal ductwork installations in forced-air HVAC systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, this collar provides a secure, rigid connection point at the trunk duct, allowing branch runs or supply boots to tie in cleanly. At 30 inches in length by 12 inches in width, it is sized for medium-to-large residential and light commercial trunk lines. Licensed sheet metal workers and HVAC installers use this type of collar when laying out new duct systems or retrofitting existing trunks to meet ACCA Manual D or SMACNA duct construction standards.
This starting collar fits into rectangular trunk duct configurations and is intended for use at the takeoff point where a branch duct originates from the main trunk. The straight body pattern allows for direct, in-line connection without offset. It is appropriate for residential forced-air furnace and air handler systems as well as light commercial applications where galvanized rectangular trunk ductwork is specified. The 30-inch by 12-inch footprint accommodates larger trunk sections common in systems serving multiple zones or larger floor plans.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal component for use with rectangular galvanized trunk duct systems built to ACCA and SMACNA standards in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed sheet metal worker or qualified HVAC technician in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and applicable local mechanical codes. Power down the air handler or furnace and verify the system is de-energized before working on connected ductwork. Secure the collar to the trunk with sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape as required by code. Do not use this collar in applications exceeding the pressure class for which the duct system is designed.
