The SOUTHWARK METAL 202 is a reducing tee fitting designed for use in sheet metal ductwork systems. This fitting connects a main duct run to a branch takeoff at a reduced diameter, allowing airflow to be directed from a larger trunk line into a smaller branch without the need for additional adapters. It is typically installed by HVAC sheet metal mechanics during the rough-in stage of residential or light commercial forced-air system installations. The reducing tee configuration supports efficient airflow distribution across multi-zone duct layouts.
The SOUTHWARK METAL 202 reducing tee is suited for forced-air heating and cooling duct systems where a branch line must be reduced relative to the main trunk. It is commonly installed in residential new construction and retrofit duct systems, as well as light commercial applications requiring a clean, secure branch connection off a larger duct run.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for residential and light commercial sheet metal forced-air ductwork systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician or sheet metal mechanic in accordance with SMACNA standards and applicable local mechanical codes. Power down the air handling unit and close the system dampers before cutting into an existing duct run. Secure all joints with sheet metal screws and seal with UL 181-listed mastic or foil tape to prevent air leakage. Do not leave unsealed gaps at the tee connection points, as leakage will reduce system efficiency and pressure balance.
