The SOUTHWARK METAL 15_26X8 is a 45-degree shortway trunk duct angle fitting used in sheet metal HVAC duct systems. It is fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel for corrosion resistance and long service life in both exposed and concealed duct installations. The fitting connects 26-inch x 8-inch duct sections with a vertical, radius throat configuration that reduces turbulence and pressure drop at the turn. This type of fitting is installed by sheet metal workers and licensed HVAC technicians during new construction or duct retrofit projects. Compliance with ACCA and SMACNA standards makes it suitable for commercial and residential forced-air systems.
This trunk duct angle is used wherever a 45-degree directional change is required in a rectangular trunk line. The shortway orientation means the turn occurs along the short dimension of the duct, which is common in tight ceiling or crawlspace installations where vertical clearance is limited. The radius throat design helps maintain airflow efficiency through the bend. Typical applications include residential forced-air furnace and air handler duct systems as well as light commercial HVAC trunk-and-branch layouts.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for rectangular trunk duct systems sized at 26 inches x 8 inches. Compatible with duct assemblies fabricated and installed in accordance with ACCA and SMACNA guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified sheet metal worker or licensed HVAC technician. Shut down the air handling system completely before modifying or extending any duct section. Secure the fitting using sheet metal screws and seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape in accordance with local mechanical codes and SMACNA duct construction standards. Avoid sharp handling along the galvanized edges to prevent coating damage and installer injury.
