The SOUTHWARK METAL 15_24X8 is a 45-degree shortway trunk duct angle fitting fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel. It is designed for use in sheet metal HVAC duct systems where a direction change is required along the short dimension of a rectangular duct run. The fitting features a vertical orientation with a radius throat, which reduces turbulence and pressure drop at the elbow. Both inlet and outlet dimensions are 24 inches by 8 inches, making this a same-size transition. Sheet metal installers and HVAC mechanical contractors use this fitting in forced-air distribution systems during new construction and retrofit work.
This duct angle is intended for rectangular trunk duct systems in residential and light commercial forced-air heating and cooling applications. It is suited for installations where duct routing requires a 45-degree turn in a horizontal trunk line. The shortway design keeps the elbow compact in ceiling plenums, crawlspaces, and mechanical rooms with limited clearance. The radius throat profile is preferred over square-throat fittings in systems requiring lower static pressure losses. This fitting conforms to ACCA and SMACNA standards and is appropriate for installer-fabricated or shop-fabricated duct systems.
Designed for use with rectangular sheet metal trunk duct systems with a 24 inch by 8 inch duct size. Conforms to ACCA and SMACNA standards for sheet metal duct fittings.
Installation should be performed by a licensed sheet metal mechanic or qualified HVAC installer in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and local mechanical codes. Secure all duct connections with approved fasteners and seal joints with mastic or UL-listed foil tape per ACCA and local code requirements. Ensure the duct system is fully depressurized and the air handler is powered down before making connections or modifications. Do not install this fitting in applications outside its rated duct size without fabricating an appropriate transition.
