The SOUTHWARK METAL 14_16X10 is a 90-degree flat Broadway radius throat sheet metal trunk duct elbow used in forced-air HVAC duct systems. Fabricated from hot dip galvanized steel, it measures 16 inches x 10 inches on both the inlet and outlet, making it a straight-through turn fitting with no transition in cross-section. The radius throat design reduces turbulence and pressure drop at the elbow compared to square-throat alternatives. Licensed HVAC sheet metal installers and mechanical contractors specify this type of fitting for trunk line routing where duct runs must turn 90 degrees within tight framing bays or equipment rooms.
This elbow is suited for low-pressure residential and light commercial forced-air supply and return trunk duct systems. The flat Broadway profile is a standard configuration in rectangular duct work and is commonly used where vertical or horizontal trunk lines must change direction. It meets ACCA and SMACNA standards, which are the governing references for residential and commercial duct fabrication and installation. Both inlet and outlet openings are 16 inches x 10 inches, so no reducer fittings are required when connecting same-size trunk sections.
Designed as an OEM-style sheet metal fitting for rectangular trunk duct systems using 16 inches x 10 inches duct sections built to ACCA and SMACNA standards.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal mechanic familiar with SMACNA duct construction standards. The air handling system should be powered down and the blower confirmed off before connecting or sealing any duct fittings. Joints should be secured with sheet metal screws and sealed with UL 181-listed mastic or foil tape per local mechanical code requirements. Verify duct support spacing and hanger placement meets applicable mechanical code before commissioning the system.
