The SOUTHWARK METAL 122SC-8 is a ductboard snaplock collar designed for use in low-pressure air distribution systems. This fitting creates a secure, snap-fit connection between rigid fiberglass ductboard panels and round duct, eliminating the need for separate fasteners at the collar joint. The 8-inch diameter and 1.5-inch to 2-inch insertion depth make it suited for residential and light commercial HVAC ductwork fabrication. Sheet metal workers and HVAC installers use this collar when building or modifying ductboard trunk-and-branch systems.
This collar is used in ductboard duct systems where round branch takeoffs connect to a fiberglass ductboard plenum or trunk. The snaplock design allows the collar to lock into a field-cut hole in the ductboard, providing a firm mechanical connection without additional hardware. It is a standard fitting for residential forced-air heating and cooling systems where ductboard is the primary duct material. The 8-inch size fits common branch duct runs feeding supply registers in residential construction.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for fiberglass ductboard duct systems used in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC applications.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal workers. Power down the air handling unit and relieve any system pressure before cutting into an existing ductboard system. Use a sharp ductboard knife and the appropriate hole saw or cutting tool sized to the collar diameter to produce a clean hole for proper snaplock engagement. Seal all ductboard connections with UL 181B-rated tape or mastic per local mechanical code requirements.
