The SOUTHWARK METAL 122SC-5 is a ductboard snaplock collar designed for connecting round duct to ductboard (fiberglass duct board) systems. The collar features a snaplock design that allows for quick, secure attachment without the need for additional fasteners. It is sized at 5 inches in diameter and is compatible with ductboard insulation thicknesses from 1.5 inches to 2 inches. HVAC technicians and sheet metal installers use this collar when transitioning between rigid round duct and ductboard plenums or distribution systems in residential and light commercial applications.
This snaplock collar is used in forced-air HVAC installations where ductboard is the primary duct material. It is typically installed at trunk-to-branch transitions, supply plenum connections, or other locations where a round collar must be inserted into and secured to a ductboard surface. The 1.5-inch to 2-inch insulation thickness range makes it suitable for standard residential ductboard used in attic, crawlspace, and mechanical room applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for ductboard-based forced-air HVAC distribution systems using round collars at 5-inch diameter openings with 1.5-inch to 2-inch ductboard thickness.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal installers. Power down the air handling unit and ensure the system is depressurized before working on duct connections. The snaplock collar should be inserted into a clean, properly scored and cut ductboard opening sized to match the collar diameter. Foil tape and mastic sealant applied at the collar-to-ductboard joint are standard practice per SMACNA guidelines to maintain air seal integrity.
