The SOUTHWARK METAL 122SC-16 is a ductboard snaplock collar designed for connecting flexible or rigid ductboard runs to register boots, plenums, or other duct fittings in low-pressure forced-air HVAC systems. The collar measures 16 inches in diameter and is built to accept ductboard material with a thickness range of 1.5 inches to 2 inches. The snaplock design allows the collar to be secured without additional fasteners, speeding up installation on new construction and retrofit jobs. HVAC sheet metal installers and duct fabricators are the primary users of this fitting.
This collar is used in residential and light commercial forced-air heating and cooling systems where ductboard is the primary duct material. It is suited for applications where a secure, airtight transition between the ductboard panel and a collar fitting is required. The 16-inch diameter accommodates large trunk or branch runs typical in commercial air handler systems or high-flow residential equipment. It is installed at takeoffs, end caps, or plenum connections where ductboard panels meet metal collar components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for forced-air HVAC ductboard systems using 1.5-inch to 2-inch ductboard panels with a 16-inch collar opening.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal mechanic in accordance with SMACNA ductboard fabrication standards and local mechanical codes. Power down the air handler and verify the system is de-energized before working inside any duct plenum or air handler cabinet. Use appropriate ductboard adhesive and foil tape to seal the collar-to-ductboard joint after the snaplock is engaged to maintain system air tightness. Avoid overtrimming the ductboard opening, as a clean, square cut is required for the collar to seat and lock correctly.
