The SOUTHWARK METAL 121SC4 is a snap collar ductboard tap designed for use in sheet metal duct fabrication and ductboard branch takeoff applications. Built to a 28-gauge material thickness, this 4-inch collar provides a secure, snap-fit connection point where a branch duct or flexible duct connector meets a ductboard trunk. HVAC sheet metal installers and ductwork fabricators use this fitting during new construction and retrofit projects to maintain a tight, consistent seal at the takeoff point without requiring additional fasteners for the initial snap-in engagement.
This snap collar is suited for residential and light commercial HVAC duct systems where ductboard is the primary trunk material. It is installed at the point where a 4-inch branch run is tapped off a ductboard plenum or trunk line. The snap-fit design simplifies field installation and reduces labor time compared to conventional flanged collars. It is commonly used by HVAC installers working with pre-fabricated ductboard panels in forced-air heating and cooling systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for 4-inch ductboard tap applications in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC duct systems.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed HVAC technician or sheet metal installer. Shut down the air handling system and relieve any system pressure before cutting into or modifying existing ductwork. After snapping the collar into the ductboard, seal all joints with UL 181-rated mastic compound or approved duct tape in accordance with local mechanical codes and SMACNA guidelines. Do not leave tap openings unsealed, as air leakage at branch connections reduces system efficiency and may violate code.
