The SOUTHWARK METAL 106-NC_7IN is a sheet metal pipe end boot designed to transition from an oval duct opening to a round duct connection in forced-air HVAC distribution systems. Constructed from hot dip galvanized steel, this fitting provides corrosion resistance suitable for residential and light commercial ductwork applications. The no-crimp, reverse configuration allows for a clean, slip-fit installation without the need for crimped male ends, simplifying field assembly. HVAC sheet metal installers and duct fabricators will find this fitting applicable to supply air trunk-and-branch systems where a flat oval register or grille boot transitions to a round collar. Both the A and B dimensions measure 7 inches, making this a square-format transition piece.
This pipe end boot is used in forced-air supply duct systems where an oval duct end must connect to a 7-inch round collar or round branch takeoff. The reverse, no-crimp design means the round end receives the adjoining round duct rather than inserting into it, which is a common requirement when fitting into register boots or ceiling diffuser collars. It is suitable for residential new construction and retrofit duct work where ACCA and SMACNA duct fabrication standards apply.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for residential and light commercial forced-air duct systems requiring an oval-to-round transition at a 7-inch by 7-inch interface, per ACCA and SMACNA duct fabrication guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified sheet metal installer. Shut down the air handling system and de-energize the air handler or furnace before modifying ductwork. Seal all joints with UL 181-rated duct mastic or metal foil tape in accordance with SMACNA duct construction standards and applicable local mechanical codes. Avoid using duct tape that does not meet UL 181 requirements, as it will not maintain a lasting seal.
