The SNAPPY t27-14 is a galvanized round crimped starting collar designed for connecting flexible duct to trunk lines, plenums, or branch takeoffs in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The collar measures 14 inches by 6 inches and features a crimped end that allows it to insert directly into flex duct without additional reducers or adapters. Fabricated from galvanized steel, the t27-14 resists corrosion in typical attic and crawl space environments. HVAC sheet metal installers and ductwork mechanics use this collar as a primary starting point for flex duct runs off rectangular or round supply trunks.
This collar is suited for residential forced-air systems where flex duct is routed from a main trunk or plenum to supply registers. The 14-inch by 6-inch sizing accommodates common trunk takeoff configurations. The crimped barrel end seats securely inside standard flex duct inner liner, allowing the duct to be pulled over and secured with a draw band or zip tie before being sealed with UL 181-rated mastic or tape. It is appropriate for supply-side ductwork in low-pressure residential air distribution systems.
Designed as an OEM-style starting collar for use with 6-inch diameter flexible duct in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems where a 14-inch by 6-inch trunk takeoff configuration is required.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified sheet metal mechanics. Power down the air handler and verify the system is de-energized before making any duct connections. Seat the crimped end fully into the flex duct inner liner and secure with an approved draw band, then seal all connections with UL 181-rated mastic or foil tape in accordance with local mechanical codes and SMACNA guidelines. Do not use standard cloth duct tape as a primary sealant on low-pressure duct systems.
